Whew.. it's been a pretty busy month. What with exams, gigs, pre production and finishing school. We got a review by the gracrious Martin for Rage at the Ranch!Anarkasiem –three kids from Friends College - Claire Seabrook is a babe on guitar with a very distinctive songwriting style – its post grunge at least, with pop sensibilities backed by very driving bass lines and a tubthumper behind the kit with cool piercings (how do you get away with that at school guys?) – and already they too have done a whole bunch of gigs at an early age as well. They played one of the longest sets of the Rage at the Ranch - the sound crew remarked how stoked they felt as their mature hearts skipped beats to the songs of love, beytrayal, redemption and acquital that Anarkasiem endorse in their all too cool composition. The tent staff loved this, and everybody jumped up and down and did the smurf, the headbang and the pogo dance. Its just so so great to finally see the new Tasmanian rock – after a long epoch in Hobart’s musical legacy of ego and bravado – these guys are modest but very confident and with their heads looking over the horizons of the North West countryside sad to learn that they may be heading to Brisbane – soon. 8 years ago they would have supported a band like Bikini Kill down here (they remind me of the then support ‘Blag Salute’) – It’s a good scene in Brissie we hear, and they will get a different form of exposure and audience, but im sure it will benefit then to the optimal degree – and there is always a show in Hobart for them.
Yep it's quite likely Anarkasiem is making the move to warmer areas (I hate being cold *shiver*). But before we go up we hope to release an album (most likely be an EP as its cheaper :P), and it'd be great to have a cd launch before christmas! Get out those Santa hats *grin*

Well we finally got the masters for the 2005 Kool Skools recording ! weee new tracks up at mp3.com.au and myspace.. go listen! The BOB was great fun. 18 bands all up (Waiter took the winnings) that all showed awsome performances. Ended pretty late though!26/08/05
Last night was awsome! We came home to Hobart with three awards! Honourable Mention, Best Original Song (For Melancholia woo), and Best Female Performer. Not only are we stoked about that, but with awards comes prizes, and we got a new drumkit, and a bit of recording time to get Melancholia down. It was a big week, on the 24th we did more recording for Kool Skools, and got down three songs. Hopefully we will have a good quality EP to hand out at gigs soon.19/08/05

Got some good news! The anarks are quite busy, what with being asked to play a gig with Enola fall (Fantastic!), the Rock challenge, tasmusic showcase and Kool Skools recording. I'll be here to update again. The gigs on the weekend were great, Hammerhead are amazing, (80's metal just makes my day) and we got some great feedback. Thanks to all that came to our gigs. Stay tuned!24/07/05
Well the Tipshop gig was pretty fun. It rained on the way there and when we set up (my hair is fuzzy), but it stopped when we were playing yay! There was a really cool group before us (The Kazikstan Cowgirls) who played a song about someone stealing their lilo! Haha and a little boy was standing around Dave's kit calling the toms snares. It was cute. Ooh and they might have got a recording of us playing.. pretty sweet!12/07/05
We're going to be participating in the 2005 Kools Skools this year. This means we'll get to record another few songs for free. Awsome!11/07/05
Hey Anarks! We've been hard at work in the studio (Big room in my house) and managed to record quite a lot of material. Where did this website come from?Well we thought it was time for a website (even if its a free one with annoying ads!) and Bravehost seems ok.. apart from that big bar up the top (god dammit!). Oh and they don't let you use profanity...
